Favorite artists: Gustav Klimt (1862-1918)

I love Klimt’s work because it manages to be breath-takingly beautiful and haunting at the same time. Klimt’s art isn’t the most reassuring art you can find and that’s what makes it amazing, because what at first glance just seems to be pure aesthetics actually has a lot more depth. You have to let yourself fall into his work, let yourself become a part of the golden “cocoons” he creates.

I also love Klimt because he’s one of the people that influenced and helped establish my favorite artist, the next and last one on my list.
